Undergraduates interested in solving real-world business problems and getting a head start in pursuing maritime internships or careers

DESCRIPTION

Join us for the inaugural run of the MSC Maritime Summit Case Challenge. This is your chance to solve real-world business problems and impress the senior management of APL, Jurong Port and Shell with your bright ideas and fresh perspectives!

There are two rounds for this case competition - a Preliminary Round followed by the Grand Finals, where the three finalist teams will have 24 hours to crack another case study and impress the panel of judges from APL, Jurong Port, Shell, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), and the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF).

  • First Runner-Up - $1,200 Cash

The Top 3 teams have an exclusive invitation to the MSC Maritime Summit Dinner. This is your chance to meet and impress the senior management of APL, Jurong Port, Shell, MPA and SMF over dinner at Artemis Grill - a fine-dining restaurant at Level 40 of CapitaGreen offering panoramic views of the Singapore skyline.

How to Participate?

  • Open to Undergraduates from NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD, SIT and SIM across all disciplines, any year of study
  • Form teams of 3
  • Register for the Information Session on 15 February 2019, 6.30pm to 9.00pm via this link
  • Limited to first 30 teams who sign up

Important Dates to Note

  • Registration Deadline: 14 February 2019
  • Information Session: 15 February 2019 (At least two out of three members in a team must attend)
  • Preliminary Case Online Submission: 1 March 2019
  • Grand Finals: 30 March 2019
  • MSC Maritime Summit Dinner: 1 April 2019

This event is organised by the Maritime Singapore Connect (MSC) Office, in partnership with APL, Jurong Port and Shell.

The MSC Office is a national initiative supported by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Started in 2016, the unit under the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) serves to help connect students, jobseekers and the general public with maritime employers, industry associations, the government and schools.

As a central access point for target audiences of varied profiles, the MSC Office seeks to elevate profiling efforts of the maritime industry and provide Singaporeans with easy access to maritime education, training and job opportunities.
