DESCRIPTION

We are seeking for suitable Shipping or Maritime-related experienced candidates to join us as we are expanding our services:

1. BUSINESS CONTROL OFFICER, FINANCE

Reporting to the Corporate Business Control Manager based in Singapore, the main task of the Business Control Officer/Business Controller is to issue and analyze the management and accounting data of designated entities (lines) to support and challenge business operations decisions, if need be, for better control of cost structure and profitability.

Job Description

  • Produce monthly results (management/ Flash/ Forecast) using standard costs
  • Be part of the day to day decision making process in the entity
  • Prepare the yearly budget and quarterly revisions
  • Gap analysis between management, flash and forecast and alert the management in case of deviation. Make proposals to allow for correction
  • Make sure all rules and regulations enforced by Group Corporate Control are applied and adhered to
  • Produce any profitability analysis as required.
  • Monthly meeting with his management to discuss results.
  • Gap analysis between actual and estimated cost to adjust the standard cost if necessary

Applicant Requirements

  • Degree from a recognised university
  • At least 1 year experience in a similar function preferably from a maritime or financial environment.
  • Ability to engage and build strong work relationships with Operations, Commercial and Management in order to effectively influence and be considered dependable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Can work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines within tight time frames.
  • Good organisational and analytical skills with a mature methodical approach to tasks.
  • Demonstrate ability to solve problems and offer innovative solutions; not afraid of challenges and learning new things.
  • Customer focus yet strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (especially in Microsoft Excel). Not afraid of learning new systems

2. ANALYST, SET-UP MANAGEMENT (1-year contract)

This position is to provide end to end routings in the system primarily for booking purpose. Update of cost - users include sales, pricing, planning team who reference this for quotations and financial analysis. You will be part of the Global Ops / Setup Management Team.

Job Description

  • Setup and update routings to ensure most efficient/best routings for display in the system.
  • Work closely with all Trades to ensure that the routes updated for display are as per the plans and allocations.
  • Ensure all enquiries relating from customer query to acceptance are attended to, all bookings are successfully taken, the functional mailbox is responded on the same working day and within 24 hours.
  • Update of cost – to ensure that the update is accurate and timely.

  • Diploma /Degree
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT)

3. INTRA-ASIA PRICING INTERN (15 Oct 2018 – 18 Jan 2019)

The incumbent’s role is to assist Pricing Analyst/Pricing Specialist/Line managers to improve our work efficiency and ensure Pricing Analyst/Pricing Specialist/Line managers focus on maximum contribution and optimization of every APL Line services in the Intra Asia trade feeder vessel’s fuel consumption and analytics.

Job Description

  • To assist pricing analyst/pricing specialist with all required data/information to process global bids/contracts
  • To assist pricing analyst/pricing specialist on internal Rates/GRI/Surcharges’ filing
  • To support Line Managers on monthly flash/forecast report
  • To support Line Managers to evaluate and analyse profile of all IA customers and loading results

Applicant Requirements

  • A great working attitude, good initiative and keen learning ability
  • Systematic and sense of orderliness in the filing and recording of pricing and customer contracting information.
  • Comprehensive ability to design and pull reports with accompanying analysis to optimise trade team results

4. SPECIALIST, TRADE MANAGEMENT

Job Description

  • Monthly/Daily interface with GNA and Ops to ensure that services are operating according to plan and where it is not, work closely to either wrought VSP changes or push for improvements in deliverables by other functions
  • Weekly/monthly coordination with the Equipment Flow Control team to ensure that equipment flows are planned in a manner that is consistent to quarterly plan and to work out solutions that may lead to even higher yield for APL’s network
  • Track overall effective loading declarations and ship level performance to ensure that each ship in each service is fully maximized and bunker consumption is not outside of variance
  • Work closely with Feeder GNA team to ensure that sufficient and reliable connections are made available to achieve planned volumes
  • Develop Network plans and studies in developing new markets and other related issues under his/her respective scope.
  • On an ad-hoc basis, assume overall responsibility in the event that major exceptions occur to ensure full recovery is achieved on a timely basis.

Applicant Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of liner experience with understanding of ship operations, network design and yield optimization principles is preferred
  • Strong intellect and analytical skills that enables the incumbent to understand and optimize complex and interlinked rotations
  • Strong inter-personal skills and good team player who can work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
