BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (HONS) IN MARITIME STUDIES

WHAT IT IS

The Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Maritime Studies focuses primarily on tertiary education in shipping, business, management, and maritime science and technology. The course seeks to build up the expertise of the local shipping industry as well as work towards establishing Singapore as a centre of excellence for shipping business, research and development.

As the programme aims to provide students with both depth and breadth, students will be required to complete courses related to mathematics, social sciences, business and technology, shipping as well as prescribed electives.

In addition to pursuing the degree, students can also choose to pursue a second major in Business, specialise in International Trading or both. More information on the curriculum structure and course content can be found here.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This programme is targeted for suitable candidates with GCE A-levels, IB, and diploma holders who have relevant qualifications.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Graduates are expected to be employed in a broad and diverse range of shore-based jobs which include the following: Marine Operations Executive, Chartering Executive, Logistics Executive, Freight Forwarding Executive, Warehouse Planner, Post-Fixture Executive, Trade/Pricing Executive, Manager (Voyage Planning), Accounts Manager (Sea Freight), Supply Chain Coordinator, Shipping Executive, Cargo Claims Manager, Export/Import Executive, Brokerage Executive, Analyst (Market Intelligence) and Business Development Manager.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Students pursuing Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Maritime Studies and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Maritime Studies with Business Major can apply for the MaritimeONE scholarships. Visit the MaritimeONE scholarship website for more information.

FURTHER STUDIES
