BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING (CIVIL ENGINEERING) WITH SPECIALISATION IN OFFSHORE ENGINEERING
WHAT IT IS
Made available to the students since academic year 2004/2005, this offshore engineering specialisation is offered by the National University of Singapore under the Civil Engineering course, a broad field of engineering that deals with the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of fixed structures or public infrastructure.
The specialisation aims to empower a selected group of about 20 civil engineering undergraduates a year with key skills and knowledge in offshore structures, hydrodynamics, seafloor engineering, control and even chemical processes so that they can join the Offshore and Marine Industry.
Modules compulsory for this specialisation include the following: Analysis & Design of Offshore Structures, Offshore Hydrodynamics, Design Project, B.Eng. Dissertation and a 12-week Vacation Internship Programme.
- H2 Mathematics, and
- H2 Physics* or H2 Chemistry
*Students without H2 or H1 Physics need to have 'O' level Physics or equivalent and will be required to take specified Physics bridging modules.
Applicants presenting an acceptable Diploma from a Polytechnic in Singapore or with international qualifications that meet the above prerequisites using equivalent high-school results may also apply. Please visit here for more details.
Graduates will be able to take on a variety of job roles in the Offshore and Marine industry related to offshore structures, hydrodynamics, seafloor engineering, control and even chemical processes with the key skills and knowledge included in the course.
