HIGHER NITEC IN MARITIME BUSINESS

WHAT IT IS

In their course of study, students would gain skills and knowledge to coordinate vessel movement and operations, liaise with suppliers, agents and customers and arrange for cargo transhipments. They will also learn about shipping and cargo operations, shipping documentation and administration, ship agency and crew management.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To apply for the Higher Nitec in Maritime Business course, you need to have GCE 'O' level grades in English Language, Mathematics/Principles of Accounts and 1 other subject.

SUBJECT GRADE
English Language 1 - 7
Mathematics (Elementary or Additional) 1 - 8
One other subject 1 - 7

Note: To be eligible for selection, you must have sat for Mathematics (Elementary or Additional)

CAREER PROSPECTS

Higher Nitec in Maritime Business graduates are employed by companies involved in marine business such as in shipping & port operations, cargo operations, ship agency and management services. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Shipping Operations Assistant, Shipping Administrative Executive and Assistant Supervisor. The maritime sector is a key sector in Singapore and globally. As graduates acquire experience and upgrade their skills and knowledge, their career advancement prospects will improve.

FURTHER STUDIES

Students with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.
