WSP for Shipowning, Operating and Broking
WHAT IT IS

The SkillsFuture Work Study Programme (WSP) is a work-study programme designed to give fresh graduates from polytechnics a head start in careers related to their discipline of study. It provides them with more opportunities, after graduation, to build on the skills and knowledge they acquired in school, and better supports their transition into the workforce.
Selected applicants will be matched with a job related to their discipline of study and undergo a 12- to 18-month structured training programme. They can look forward to the following:
- Facilitated learning, on-job-training (OJT) and work-based projects
- Assigned mentors at the company to guide and provide support
- Enjoy a well-structured career progression pathway, in line with the company’s talent development plan
- Receive an industry-recognised certification and potential wage progression or career advancement based on performance
- Singaporeans will receive a $5,000 sign-on incentive
Work Study Programme (Shipowning, Operating and Broking)
- Join a participating maritime company to take on commercial roles after obtaining the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) Membership Certificate issued by ICS UK which is globally recognized.
- Programme up to 18 months of duration, with structured On-the-Job and Institutional-Based Training
WHO CAN APPLY
This WSP is for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents who are fresh graduates from the following institutions and courses:
- Singapore Polytechnic
- School of Business & Management - Business Administration
- School of Engineering - Common Engineering Programme
- School of Maritime Studies - Maritime Business, Marine Engineering
- Ngee Ann Polytechnic
- School of Business & Management - Common Business Programme
- School of Maritime Studies - Maritime Business, Marine & Offshore Technology
- Nanyang Polytechnic
- School of Business & Management - Business and Financial Technology, Business Management
- Temasek Polytechnic
- School of Business & Management - Logistics and Operations Management
- Republic Polytechnic
- Supply Chain Management
WHEN TO APPLY
Applications are open during the period below:
Starting Date: 1 July 2019
Ending Date: 30 April 2021
HOW TO APPLY
Interested applicants may submit the WSP interest form to leyi@ics.org.sg (Attn: Cheng Leyi) from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS).
ICS will review the application form and call the eligible candidates for interview and then refer the candidates to relevant participating companies.
