COC (SPECIAL LIMIT) MARINE ENGINEER
WHAT IT IS
The programme aims to provide a new route for locals to work as a CoC (Special Limit) Marine Engineer onboard vessels plying within Special Limits. As Special Limits refer to only 30 nautical miles off Singapore waters, Marine Engineers can look forward to sailing closer to their homes and loved ones.
Successful applicants will have to attend an intensive 14-months training programme comprising of 3 training phases:
Phase 1: Pre-sea Classroom Training at Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA) - 6 months
Phase 2: OJT onboard ship (Sea Service) - 6 months
Phase 3: Classroom Examination Preparatory Course at SMA - 2 months
After completing 14 months of training and passing examinations, Marine Engineer Officer Cadets will attain CoC Class 5 Special Limit and be a qualified 2nd Engineer.

WHO CAN APPLY
- Singaporeans and Singapore PRs with at least NITEC in an Engineering field
- Physically fit
- Prepared to work shifts out at sea
- Has normal colour vision and no night blindness
WHEN TO APPLY
There are two application periods in a year
- January to February
- July to August
