WHAT IT IS
The Ship Charterer supports the organisation’s chartering operations by liaising with ship-owners, traders, or charterers through a shipbroker to ensure that ships deliver the cargo safely in the most cost-effective manner. He/She also supports client account management by addressing issues arising in the pre- and post-fixture process.
The Charterer also gathers data for business development opportunities and liaises with stakeholders to acquire latest ship details, schedules and updates. They build rapport with the organisation’s customers by maintaining service standards.
Chartering executives in shipping companies can earn a monthly salary of about $3,100 to $6,500 per month.

WHAT IS REQUIRED
- A diploma or degree in any discipline but preferably in the following areas: Maritime Studies, Business, Economics and Mathematics
- Commercial acumen
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Interest and ability to thrive working in a dynamic environment
- A working knowledge of geography will be an added advantage
